Industrial Light & Magic and Alex Laurant Present

Running time: N/A

Alex Laurant, ILM's Visual Effects Art Director for The Mummy, will present a detailed tour through the design and execution of the film's wide variety of effects. Starting with the pivotal involvement of ILM's Creature Design Group and their visualization of the many faces of the decomposing and regenerating anti-hero, Imhotep, Alex will explain many of ILM's unprecedented CG innovations that gave life to the film's carnivorous scarab beetles, ancient Egyptian vistas, supernatural sandstorms, and, of course, mummies. The presentation will include numerous step-by-step sequences showing how these digital characters were designed, built, and seamlessly integrated into live-action photography. There will be a question and answer session following the talk.
