There are many timeless stories. One of the most common is the old, boy meets girl, boy loses girl, boy gets girl back. Terry, our hero, knows this story well and when circumstances present themselves he is all to willing to fulfill his role. Terry is a young man living on the mean streets of New York. He has already taken the first step into a life of crime. We first meet him as he helps his friend Flood hustle stolen electronics to "unsuspecting" yuppies. As Terry's circle of "friends" expands he eventually encounters his nemesis Tommy and the girl he must save, Lyrica. Terry and Lyrica hatch a doomed scheme to get some cash and then get out of town, of course making a mortal enemy of Tommy in the process. Chris Hart has masterfully brought into full view a truly "timeless" tale in only the guise of a cliche. Hart, however, skillfully combines many distinctive cinematic styles, everything from "Scorsese-esque" street scenes to low-light cinema verit'e to freeze frame. Hart's stylization of the story contrasts sharply with the cliche boy-meets-girl story. Instead, it shows how a deep devotion to love more often leads to tragedy than to triumph. --Rodger Hughes
