This series of shorts explores the lighter, and often stranger, side of life.Sid Vicious comes back to help a struggling writer in Donal Tavey's comic fantasy WISHFUL THINKERS. Two women (Grace Zabriskie, La Tanya Richardson) view the body of a hated friend, who even in death seems to be mocking them. But these two have some ideas of their own and refuse to let her have THE LAST LAUGH (Robert Harders). Amy Elizabeth Salesin's THE EXTRA is a hilarious "documentary" on that so important, yet so invisible of film actors...the Hollywood extra. Brett Thomas' STD CRY CIA will be a favorite of anyone who has had to deal with those automated phone menus that seem to be replacing actual people these days. In Alex Perez' BOX CAR WILLIE, the elevator becomes an arena for something other than office politics. The film proves that even if you're going up...you're going down! Kazuhiro Soda's A NIGHT IN NEW YORK is a slice of life comedy about the strange characters that inhabit a cafe one late night in New York City. Robert Stark's THE BICYCLIST is a slightly skewed film about a cyclist who finds a plane crash survivor in the desert. The lucky survivor soons learns that eventually luck runs out. David Punch's JUST OVER THERE is an uproarious short sure to delight film buffs...and anyone else. Bill Plympton's NOSE HAIR is the latest weird and wonderful "Plymptoon" about those pesky nasal follicles. Joseph Plonsky's SHIDDER is a tale of revenge that will have you passing on that second cup of airline coffee. Ken Hegan's FARLEY MOWAT ATE MY BROTHER is the odd tale of a man's obsession with author Farley Mowat and the alleged culinary demise of his brother. He's having ONE OF THOSE DAYS (Mark Decena): the air is hot, the sky is green, and she's...not interested. --Matt Aquino
